Pool Access Reminders

Pool season is in full swing and the Oak Park Trails pool is a great way to cool off during these hot summer days! We thought we would post some reminders about the pool access in case anyone still needs access tags for the 2012 swim season.

All residents of Oak Park Trails are welcome to use the pool facilities but
an access tag is required for entry. To obtain an access tag, please download
the registration form from the website www.oakparktrails.org (under
the Documents and Forms tab), complete the form and mail to Crest Management,
following the instructions on the registration form. There is a $15 fee for new
or replacement access tags. Please mail a check for the fee with your
registration form. The access tag will be mailed to you at the address you
provide on the form.

If you are a new homeowner (closed on your home since the end of the 2011
pool season in September 2011), you are entitled to one free access tag. Please
provide proof of closing with your application to obtain a free tag.

Only one access tag per home/family is needed, but if you would like to
have more than one for convieniance, you may apply for additional tags at the
same $15 fee. The pool access tag also provides access to the tennis court
gates.

Pool hours and additional information is posted on the Oak Park Trails
website or you can email us at board@oakparktrails.org for any
questions.

With Heavy Hearts

It is with great sadness that we let our neighbors know that our friend and OPT Board of Directors member, Frank Aranza, passed away on June 11, 2012 after a sudden and brief illness. Frank and his wife, Robin have lived in Oak Park Trails for 17 years and have been active contributors and neighbors in our community in many ways. We wish to express our deepest condolences to his family in this time of difficult loss. Memorial services are pending and we will provide details when they are available.

Always with a smile, a guiding hand and service to his fellow neighbors, Frank leaves a legacy that has touched many lives. As described in this article in the GHBA newsletter, Frank was actively involved in the housing industry for more than 30 years, dedicating his career to  educating others on the value of building an “energy efficient home” in his role at the Dow Chemical Co.

At GHBA, Frank served as an Executive Committee Presidential Appointee, and as the Associate Council’s liaison to the Custom Builders  Council Steering Committee. He was also an integral part of the GHBA  Education Committee and the New Home & Remodeling Show Committee. Frank was awarded the Associate of the Year honor in 2004.

Frank’s true legacy at the GHBA was his tireless work on the association’s annual Adopt-a-Family holiday project, which aids needy families. In 2009, the program was renamed in his honor.

His professional and personal community involvement included serving as president of Houston Woo-Hoo Club 23 and where he was named 2003 Member of the Year. He also served on the Houston board of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry and was recognized as 2003 Chapter Person of the Year. Aranza was also actively involved with Boy Scouts of America, receiving the 2003 Scoutmaster  Award of Appreciation.

Always a steadfast neighbor with a welcoming smile and helping hand, Frank will be missed by our community. We thank you, Frank, for the countless ways you touched our lives and wish you godspeed.

Info on Pool Closure Last Friday

Notice to OPT residents – On Friday, June 8, a resident that was at the pool reported to Crest Mgmt. Company that she felt there was a problem with the chlorine levels in the pool (too much). At the same time the resident called the Harris County Public Health Services to notify them of the concern. An inspector was sent out by Harris County and at the same time the pool management company responded with management personnel to follow up on the issue. Once the Harris County inspector arrived, he tested the water using his field equipment and his results indicated that the chlorine level was high. The pool was closed so adjustments could be made to acheive the proper balance in the water. The pool management company also took additional water samples and took them to an independent testing site for a computer analysis and more in depth testing. Those tests came back showing that the chlorine was in normal ranges and lower than the inspectors field equipment had indicated. The pool was reopened with this documentation. The inspector did note that on all other areas of inspection the pool and facility was in excellent shape and we passed on all points of inspection.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will meet with both the inspector and the pool mgmt. company next week to see why there was such a discrepancy in the two tests.
We appreciate the quick response on the part of Harris County as well as our pool management company to address the concerns. The 2 hour pool closure was neccessary to conduct testing and be sure that the pool was in compliance with all standards and to insure the health, safety and comfort of the pool patrons.
Please email us at board@oakparktrails,org if you have any questions or concerns.
